Educators (carers) in In Home Care are required to be fit and proper persons in accordance with the National Standards. All educators must:
- Hold, or be actively working towards, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education or another ACECQA-recognised qualification as a minimum requirement
- Maintain current first aid qualifications, including annual CPR training
- Complete all relevant working with children checks (WWCC) as required by their State or Territory
- Obtain and maintain a Police Clearance to demonstrate suitability to work with children
- Register with PRODA (Provider Digital Access)
- Complete mandatory child protection training and demonstrate understanding of their obligations under child protection laws
- Follow the Child Safe Standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children
- Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood practices and an understanding of duty of care
- Keep appropriate records, including safety audits and programs for children
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for children
- Undertake professional development each year to ensure ongoing skills and knowledge
