Educators

Educators (carers) in In Home Care are required to be fit and proper persons in accordance with the National Standards. All educators must:

  • Hold, or be actively working towards, a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education or another ACECQA-recognised qualification as a minimum requirement
  • Maintain current first aid qualifications, including annual CPR training
  • Complete all relevant working with children checks (WWCC) as required by their State or Territory
  • Obtain and maintain a Police Clearance to demonstrate suitability to work with children
  • Register with PRODA (Provider Digital Access)
  • Complete mandatory child protection training and demonstrate understanding of their obligations under child protection laws
  • Follow the Child Safe Standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children
  • Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood practices and an understanding of duty of care
  • Keep appropriate records, including safety audits and programs for children
  • Maintain a safe and supportive environment for children
  • Undertake professional development each year to ensure ongoing skills and knowledge

Educators play a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality care, ensuring children’s wellbeing, learning, and development are at the centre of every session.
